More on Bob Woolmer's death

(BBC Online)

It also looks like it is opening a whole can of worms about cricket match fixing possibly involving the Mafia, which is in itself a shock because cricketing has previously had a rather genteel image of gentlemanly sport on a quiet summers day. The previous scandals being the, (what the old hands would term "not quiet a gentleman") cricketers, not training properly and getting "rat arsed" before a match. Either that or carrying on behind the wife's back and the worst being playing in South Africa during apartheid

This truly is a sad day for Bob Woolmer's family, friends and colleagues, for cricket, and for all who love the game.

Never heard of Hansie Cronje? Or the various match-fixing scandals involving Mohammed Azharuddin? Salim Malik? Mark Waugh? Shane Warne?
Perhaps you could also change the title of your post to show a bit more respect?

I had forggoten about Cronje and Warne and had not heard of the others, not really following cricket in general
I am sorry my title offended you, although if you re-read my post you will see that my thoughts were for Bob Woolmer's family which were uppermost in my mind, the title was meant to reflect the shock I, and others feel about the repercussions of this tragic case.
As it is, you posted anonymously, I make it a rule not to pay attention to the advice of anonymous blog posters, so with respect I am not going to start now, esp as I have just explained the reasoning behind my use of such a title.

I heard a chap on Radio 5 the other day talk about previous match fixing scandals in cricket. Apparently they go way back - much further than Cronje et al.

I have to admit I am in sympathy with Anonymous about the title. To me, it just doesn't accord with the tone of the post.
