I am not a fan of newspapers raiding through people's bins etc.. in order to get hold of a worthwhile story. It violates the privacy of the owner and his or her family and, if nothing, else, it is immoral. I can think of circumstances where it is okay, but those are ones where I think the police had better be doing it.
So I was decidedly unimpressed by the Sunday Mirror going through David Cameron's waste to see how enviromentally friendly he is, a bit, well off. The sort of thing that gives a bad odour to our political and media culture.
But that's where my sympathy ends, because talking about a commitment to the enviroment and then using a private jet to travel from Oxford to Hereford is a bit hypocritical as far as I'm concerned.
