What made you decide to start blogging?
It was a great way of advancing campaigns, informing constituents and ventilating un-edited, un-whipped with colourful words and images.
What is your best blogging experience?
Receiving well-informed comments that have made me change a deeply held view.
And your worst?
Having the site swarmed by dim-witted bigots of global warming deniers and anti-smoking ban zealots.
What do you regard as your best blog entry?
Obituary to Gwynneth Dunwoody. I knew her well and it was a chance to air subjective judgements about her and a few hilarious anecdotes.

What inspired you to go into politics?
Childhood experience of an unequal society in the last war.
What is it like to be described by Simon Hoggart as "The thinking man's Dennis Skinner"?
Very flattering. Dennis has long been a hero of mine for his courage and clarity.
At this stage, where do you see the "Flying lobbyists' issue going?
The Select Committee were reluctant to call for a mandatory register of lobbyists because we had not found the smoking guns. We were convinced there were there. Since the report was published on January 5th, the examples of the need for the register have come from the Lords and the revelation of the influence wielded by commercial lobbyists against environmental ones on aircraft pollution.
Is there anywhere abroad which you haven't been to, that you would like to visit?

Who, excluding the present leader and Prime Minister, do you regard as the best British Prime Minister, and if different, the best Labour leader?
Clem Attlee. He read the papers for the cricket scores only and created the NHS and the modern welfare state.

Aneurin Bevan, Saunders Lewis, Owen Glyndwr
