Edward Kennedy 1932-2009
I have just heard in the last minute or so that Senator Kennedy had died.
An era has ended and whilst some will be uncharitable about him in the coming days, not least arrogant and angry right-wingers, lets not also forget some of the good that he did as well, such as his tireless work to help promote better care and support for America's poor.

Don't know about "arrogant" but there is certainly plenty of anger against him. There is a case to be made that he was arrogant himself for continuing in public life following you-know-what.
Having said that, 47 years in the Senate and a phenomenal legislative record speak for themselves, whether you agreed with him or not. How many MPs do we have with 47 years experience, and what have they actually achieved?
He might not have been much of a man, but he was an extraordinary of a public servant.
