For one thing, not only are Cameron and Osborne totally vague about details, they hardly have anyone in their own co'operative movement. I mean, the Tories are hardly One Nation Macmillan types anymore, let alone Social Democrat or Socialist! I know the Conservatives are feeling the heat, especially over the elephant in their room, one Lord Ashcroft, but this smacks of desperation!

You can't fault the policy, so instead of doing the mature thing and admitting so, you decide to launch a (rather weak) attack on Cameron et al. So what if Cameron isn't a One Nation Tory?! Does that mean he can't believe in this policy?
And I really wish Labour would stop banging on about Ashcroft, the Trade Union money labour recieves is worse by far.
This sort of post is what infuriates me about Labour.
The policy doesn't seem to have any devotees within the Conservative Party and as for Lord Ashcroft, I suppose I must apologise for questioning the finances and tax status of one of the leading financiers of a political party seemingly on the verge of power!
What about the devotees that proposed it? And where is your evidence for such an assertion?!
I note you still haven't criticised the policy itself...just trying to deflect news about a good policy with an attack on Ashcroft and wild assertions.
But of course, if the Tories do something similar you will be furious.
Well you give me evidence that Co'Operatives are popular with the Conservatives and I will happily change my mind.
As for deflecting news, isn't that something Tories do as well? Plus as I said earlier about Ashcroft, my apologies for questioning the tax status of a Conservative financier. I really must realise that the Party is above criticism on such matters
Oh please! The burden of proof lies with you not me! You made the original statement with no backing and it is therefore your job to prove it.
I personally don't care two hoots about how many tories support the idea, I just care that it is a good policy. A policy you still haven't discussed, simply deflected.
Yes, the Tories do deflect news very well and it is something I hate. Even when my own side do it.
I agree with you about Ashcroft, it is wrong how much of their money comes from him, just how it is wrong how much of Labours money comes from TU's. I simply find it strange that you question his tax status in this blog post instead of discussing the merits of the policy. Labour tend to use this to try and deflect news wherever possible.
If it is such an issue then write a seperate blog post about it!
