Thought for the Day CCLVIII

Matthew Ch 12 tells of Christ's disciples being criticised for eating the ears of corn, whilst walking through a cornfield on the Sabbath, irrespective of the fact they were hungry. Christ points out about some of King David's men eating consecrated bread while hungry and that God desires mercy, not sacrifice, adding that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Many people like rules, they let us know what to expect and they help give us a sense f safety and that is not wrong, but we must never use them as a stick to beat people with when they are in situations which require love and mercy. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath
