Alan Bean 1932-2018

The twelve men who have walked on the Moon were/are remarkable people, and Alan Bean was no exception. His prompt actions shortly after Apollo 12's launch, when the rocket was struck by lightning, saved the crew and the mission. He was also a great artist.
I am cynical enough to believe that when man walks on the Moon again, it will be after all the men who have previously done so have gone. I hope not, but suspect as much. The four who are still alive have experiences and lives that no one else alive has nearly had, we need to appreciate them while they are here
