The Annual Government Kick in the Wallet Over Rail Fares

Some will ask why? To which the answer is the simple, if brutal "Because they can!" There is a captive audience, they know how much people depend on rail journeys into London, why not!
I appreciate that rail fares need to be hiked up occasionally, that is a fact of life, but it would not be so bad if the cost of living was not so high and if the rail industry had something to show for it. No matter how much Chris Grayling assures us, commuters want to see the evidence before them, instead of suspecting that it is for simple tinkering and the cynicism is sure to rise, and rightly so, if they see a substantial increase in rail bosses pay grades. The goverment and rail industry need to be more open about how they use and spend the money from commuters
