Thought for the Day CMXXXIX

1 Chronicles Ch 10 tells of the death of Saul, who failed in battle and ended up falling on his sword. The chapter tells of how he had failed God leading up to that event. That is not to say that when bad things happen is is because we have failed God, but by listening to God we can navigate through difficult situations and try and help others, even when we are overwhelmed
As King, Saul however not only caused problems for himself with his failings, but also for others. Deciding he knew best and following his emotions and whims, caused damage to his family and to Israel, although to be fair it looks like he did suffer from mental illness and that would have had an impact. That said, leaders need to be aware of the need to always listen and to not simply rely on oneself
