That has, from birth, made him a very potential target for terrorists and the like. You put him in Iraq and the poor lad becomes a No 1 target for Al Qaeda. Far better for him to have a non combat position within the ranks!Paul Burginhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06718135185726733792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13935904.post-1145911736423047932006-04-24T21:48:00.001+01:002006-04-24T21:48:00.001+01:00Sorry that was such a long post!Sorry that was such a long post!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13935904.post-1145911718344838232006-04-24T21:48:00.000+01:002006-04-24T21:48:00.000+01:00Yeah, but generally when one joins the Army, you d...Yeah, but generally when one joins the Army, you don't expect to be deployed to Bognor, do you?! You know you're going to be sent somewhere rubbish where people aren't going to like you! The problem was always going to be "what to do with Harry"...just like his Uncle Edward (and to a certain extent, his dad) he was never going to be a shining academic and career choices were going to be limited. In the real world you'd see Harry flipping burgers! I have no problem with him being sent abroad, and find the whole argument a little bit silly, but if they're throwing such a tizzy for Harry, what's it going to be like when Wills "passes out"?! I'm impressed at the courage of their convictions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13935904.post-1145911112946339902006-04-24T21:38:00.000+01:002006-04-24T21:38:00.000+01:00I don't think they thought he would be sent to som...I don't think they thought he would be sent to somewhere like Iraq tho! I think the last Royal to see armed combat too close for comfort was the future King George VI and that was during the First World War!Paul Burginhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06718135185726733792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13935904.post-1145910271465946122006-04-24T21:24:00.000+01:002006-04-24T21:24:00.000+01:00but is it right to spend the taxpayer's money on t...but is it right to spend the taxpayer's money on training someone for a job that they will not do? Harry went into training because he wanted to be a SERVING officer - if the Army high-command didn't want him to serve, then they shouldn't have accepted him in the first place for the training!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
